The inspiration for the artwork stems from the artist's personal exploration of Chiayi's Alishan, traversing the hiking trail from the crossroads towards the “Toe'uana”. The winding path follows the railway, with tar-covered sturdy sleepers and scattered gravel on the ground guiding our direction. The route cuts through rich, untouched mountain forests, presenting a unique landscape and materials shaped by natural processes. Along the way, neatly stacked sleepers are visible, and the gaps between them bear traces of various animals, plants, soil, and stones. Sunlight spills into these spaces, and life undergoes continuous changes within these tiny crevices. Each gap seems to capture different dimensions of time and space, embracing the cyclical nature of all life from ancient to present. Water, molecules, cells, fungi, seeds, eggs, rocks, dust, and planets orbit around us, intertwining and accumulating. In this moment, we breathe in rhythm, stride with determination, traverse through time and space, drawing a path in the fleeting moments of countless years.
